My name is Emy Descoteaux, I’m 20 years old and I’m getting ready to take on some big challenges, guided by my passion for riding and an unshakeable will. Born in Boisbriand, my many moves to different parts of Quebec have taught me adaptability, a key skill in my life and in the equestrian world. After studying sport and commerce, I started university in Business Management in September 2024.
My aim was to join the McDonald’s family business, while at the same time working in the equestrian world. My passion for horses began at the age of 4. By the age of 7, I was already taking part in my first competition, and since then horse riding has been a central part of my life. I train every day, as well as working as a shift manager at McDonald’s. My development took a turn with Lady Cornet, followed by Lena D’Obolensky. After two years of effort, Lena and I reached heights of 1.30 metres. Today, I’m aiming for the Grand Prix classes, ready to take on new challenges with determination and passion.
My development as an elite athlete took a decisive turn when I acquired Lady Cornet, a mare straight from the Netherlands.
A year later, a new star entered my life: Lena D’Obolensky du Plan d’eau. Lena and I have been through a lot together. For a long time, her complexity seemed insurmountable, but I persevered. After two years of hard work and learning from each other, she has become much more than a partner: we’ve forged a close bond. Together, we’ve achieved things I never thought possible. We started by jumping 0.90-metre obstacles, and today we’re reaching the impressive heights of 1.30 metres. Achieving this is one of my proudest moments. Now, when I look ahead, I’m aiming even higher, with my sights set on the Grand Prix classes, ready to take on new challenges with determination and passion.
